Soin Medical Center

Responsibilities & Requirements

The APP is a provider of direct health care services who synthesizes and utilizes evidence-based practice, research and current clinical knowledge. Working in collaboration with a multidisciplinary health care team.   The APP demonstrates an advanced level of medical and nursing knowledge, clinical and technical competence, sound clinical judgment, professionalism as it relates to interpersonal and general communication skills, timely and complete documentation and take responsibility for ongoing professional development and competency validation. The APP role in partnership with collaborating physician(s) s includes history taking, clinical assessment, and physical examination, and order entry, interpretation of diagnostic studies, clinical diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of care for the given population.   The APP may have On Call duties as assigned by practice.

 

Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Education:

  • APRN: Master’s degree with an Advanced Practice Nursing Focus in Midwifery with national board certification through AMCB required.

Required Certifications:

  • APRN - National Board Certification as a CNM through AMCB 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Required Licenses:

  • Current Ohio Board of Nursing license for APRN

Required skills include but are not limited to the following:

  • Ability to communicate and relate well with staff, provider(s) and the public
  • Must have awareness of patient confidentiality and be able to follow directions well from physician and work autonomously with little direction
  • Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships and critical analysis skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to multi-task and work under stress
  • Maintains competencies and skills of specialty area of practice.
  • Demonstrates assessment skills, diagnosis with critical thinking and implementation of a plan of care.
  • Professional Role- skill includes clinical reasoning and builds collaborative intra and interprofessional relationships to provide optimal care to patients with complex acute, critical and chronic illness. Skill of advocating on the behalf of the patient population and the profession through active participation in the health policy process.
  • Managing and Negotiating Healthcare Delivery Systems - skill in addressing the development and implementation of system policies affecting services.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years’ experience as a full scope Midwife preferred
