Responsibilities & Requirements

Responsibilities 

  • Utilizes the nursing process and principles of public health nursing and cardiovascular risk reduction to execute health promotion, early detection and prevention program activities requiring the expertise of a registered nurse.

  • Key elements of the role include CVD risk factor assessment, CVD health screening, patient education, and risk reduction counseling/coaching.

  • Assists in the collection of patient data and results communication/reporting to patient and physician.

  • Provides CVD related presentations and promotion of clinical preventive services to the community.

  • Communication/collaboration with support staff and ancillary departments.

  • Other duties as assigned.

     

Qualifications

Applicants Must Have: 

  • Licensed in the state of Ohio as a Registered Nurse
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ACEN or CCNE) if they are a new graduate nurse.
  • Bachelor of Science in nursing preferred (must be completed within 5 years of hire). If hired after June of 2010, at KMCS, all other KHN facilities after Jan 2011.
  • A nurse who is returning to the acute care setting after five or more years may be required to provide evidence of successful completion of a refresher course.
  • BLS certification
  • ACLS, NRP, PALS as determined by unit scope of practice

Preferred Qualifications

3 years’ experience in cardiac patient care

Experience in CVD risk factor modification education

Demonstrated experience as a presenter and /or group educator

Computer skills-MS office suite
